Only a few teams can really win a world cup, it is a long competition that requires experience, stars, good team chemistry, a bit of luck sometimes, and plenty of other things to go through the seven games that lead to the final victory. There are only seven or eight teams that can really pretend to win this competition, There is obviously the usual winners, Brazil, Italy, Germany, but we also have the one time winners who should be on form in May such as France or England and finally the teams that have never won it but are very serious candidate to the final victory. Ghana is a challenger as well, Essien and his teammates will probably go further than the group stage but maybe the Africans will suffer from a lack of experience in international competitions. Brazil seems to be in quite a good position even if they have lost a few games in the qualification campaign. Dunga has succeeded in pulling off the “Brazilian stars” that apparently had a special treatment until now and were in a way responsible of the lack of cohesion within the green and yellow national team. Now, the big favourite are England and Spain for most specialists. Spain has just blinded Europe by its seducing and attacking football since they won the European Championship. It is probably the best time for Spain to win it because such a generation of brilliant player doesn’t come up every five years. England is in a similar situation and players like Lampard, Cole, Gerrard, Defoe and others, are at the end of their twenties and they won’t be as fit as they are now in 4 years time for the next edition. Moreover, England football team seems to have found a very good and well-organised coach. Now, the usual European winners are always very good candidates, Italy and Germany can win it thanks to their experience and the strength of their nerves in the tense moments. If France goes through the play offs, they have a chance to go far in this competition, especially considering the fighting spirit and team chemistry that can born in a play off qualification. Many candidates and many challengers (Holland, Portugal, Denmark, etc) that we haven’t developed because their chances are too small but they are still potential winners because World Cups can reserve a lot of surprises.
